Introduction: HIV Viral load suppression is among the UNAIDS 95 95 95 targets that contribute to Epidemic control. ART adherence of more than 99 % is the cornerstone to HIV Viral suppression, which is the third 95. HIV Viral Load suppression is achieved when ART adherence is more than 95%.
Methods: a retrospective Cross-sectional comparison was made among 5,129 C/ALHIV (0-17 years old) Beneficiaries enrolled in the OVC Program who are currently receiving ART (OVC TX_CURR) to their counterpart 890 non-OVC Beneficiaries. HVL results were generated from the CTC2 Database. Six months and above on ART treatment were considered as duration inclusion criteria. CLHIV under the OVC program received individualized service packages through CCWs using the developed care plan.
Results: currently, there is a total of 5,129 TX CURR C/ALHIVs; 4,239 (82.6%) are enrolled in the OVC Program and linked to CCWs. 890 C/ALHIVs aged 0-17yrs out of 5,129 are not enrolled in OVC Program (17.3%). Among those enrolled in the OVC Program, 4,010 (95%) are HVL Suppressed, and 229 (5%) are not HVL Suppressed. Among 890 C/ALHIVs not enrolled in the OVC Program, 614 (67%) are HVL Suppressed, and 276 (31%) are not Suppressed.
Conclusion: CCWs, through the individualized service package, are key to supporting required ART adherence and eventual HVL suppression to CLHIV on ART. Community interventions to support ART adherence are important as ART clients spend more time in the community than at the facilities.
