Introduction: Cameroon faces pressing community health challenges, including limited access to healthcare, inadequate infrastructure, and rising disease burdens. Urgent action is needed to address these issues. Catalyzing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) can help bridge the gap, leveraging their expertise and community reach to improve health outcomes and save lives. The aim was to strengthen CSO capacity, foster partnerships, and enhance community health advocacy, service delivery, and policy influence.
Methods: we will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining capacity-building workshops, mentorship, and networking for 20 CSOs. We will facilitate partnerships with government, healthcare providers, and communities through stakeholder engagement and collaboration. Data collection includes surveys, focus groups, and key informant interviews. We will monitor progress through regular assessments, documenting successes and challenges. This approach enables comprehensive support for CSOs, fostering collaborative relationships and informed community health interventions.
Results: the trained CSOs showed improved capacity, collaboration, and advocacy after capacity-building workshops, mentorship, and networking. Community health services expanded, reaching 10,000 beneficiaries. Policy influences increased, with CSO input informing national health strategies. Partnerships enhanced resource mobilization and service delivery. Key achievements include: - 20 CSOs strengthened- 10,000 community members benefited from expanded services- CSO input shaped national health policies- Partnerships secured funding and resources These outcomes demonstrate the effectiveness of catalyzing CSOs to improve community health in Cameroon.
Conclusion: catalyzing CSOs can significantly improve community health in Cameroon. Our winning formula emphasizes capacity-building, partnerships, and advocacy. Scaling up this approach can enhance health outcomes, informing national health policies and programs.
